

Sis. Lula Faye Parker blessed the union of Ernest and Carrie when she was born on August 21,1945. She made her entrance into the world in Bartlett, Texas, Williamson County.Lula shared a love for Christ and professed her love at an early age and united with Mt. PleasantBaptist Church in Elgin, Texas. She later moved to Houston, Texas in 1974. Lula attended public school and graduated from Booker T. Washington in Elgin, Texas. Lula united in Holy Matrimony to Jerry Parker beginning in 1972 for 30 years. To this union one child was born, Sonya Denise Parker. Being a member of a family of hard worker, Lula gained employment with International Trading Co.mpany. She was diligent in her duties and worked 15 years before retiring. She is survived by her daughter Sonya (Randy Smith) two grandchildren, Randy Smith Jr. and Chad Smith all of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Faye Dean Townsend (a twin) of Elgin, Texas,and Delores (Elmer) Boyd of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Artis Roberts of Temple, Texas, Raymond (Willie Mae) Townsend of Elgin, Texas, Eddie (Mary) Townsend of Austin, Texas, Ernest (Doris) Townsend and James (Mildred) Townsend all of Houston, Texas; two uncles, Eddie Thompson of Daly City, California, and L.J. Thompson of Sacramento, California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Lula is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Moran Parker, brother, Otis Roberts; two aunts, Judy Gammage and Ida Bradshaw, and uncle, Clifton Townsend. Lula cherished the memories of so many people she came in contact with during her lifetimesometimes as a mother figure, a sister, a friend, and most of all, as a true Christian. She was known as "Mama Lula" to so many who cherished her. So, she's not saying goodbye, she's saying, I'll see you later! Services honoring Lula's life will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013, with a visitation beginning at 9:00am; followed by the funeral services at 11:00am. Both services will be held in the Garden of Hope Chapel of Paradise Funeral Home. Lula's earthy body shall rest peacefully in the Paradise South Cemetery.
