

Luther Lois Adams, age 90, born in North Zulch, TX passed away January 19, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Luke graduated from North Zulch High School in 1937. He received his degree in agriculture from Texas A & M University in 1941 and immediately received a commission in the U.S. Army. He served in the Pacific in WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star and attained the rank of Captain. After the war Houston became his home with his wife, Doris. He joined First Baptist Church Houston where he served in many different areas, including Sunday School teacher, usher and chairman of the deacons. He also served 25 years at Memorial Drive Baptist Church and will be remembered for his love of sharing his stories with friends of all ages. Luther is preceded in death by his wife, Doris H. Adams. He is survived by his daughters, Candace Turner & husband Weems and Karen Smith; 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also nephew John Adams & wife Cathy; nieces Arlene Brown and husband Lewis and Marilyn LeLaro and husband James. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, January 24, 2011 under the direction of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Luther’s name may be made to Memorial Drive Baptist Church, 325 N. Piney Point, Houston, TX 77024 or The Gideons International at www.gideons.org
