Luther Stacy Jr departed this life on July 31, 2020. Luther was a kind and honest person who treated everybody the same, whether a friend, co-worker or family member and, always with a genuine and sincere smile. He was a devoted Christian involved as a Lay Leader and Junior Warden at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church in Houston and in recent years a member at Calvary Episcopal in Richmond.
Mr. Stacy was a simple man who did not want for much. Material things and fancy cars meant nothing to him. What did matter was his family and friends. Always a priority through the years. His deep love of his wife (Jeanette) for over 62 years was inspirational for many. She will forever be the love of his life.
Luther loved sports. As a young man he was a weekend warrior on the golf courses in and around the Houston area. As a fan he enjoyed the Houston Oilers and then the Houston Texans. In fact, he was a PSL Charter Member of the Houston Texans evidenced by his name on a glass wall sitting between NRG Stadium and the Astrodome. He and his lovely wife enjoyed watching every Houston Astros game on television over the years and, when they could find a ride you might just see them sitting in the stands at Minute Maid Park. He was involved with all of his grandchildren and their respective sports through the youth years, on into their college years and most recently a pro-career. Always cheering them on whether it was 35 degrees outside or 95. He was there!
Mr. Stacy attended the University of Houston in the 1950s, but that enrollment was interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served for two years. Returning to Houston in 1955 he met the love of his life and they started their family in 1957. As a career, Mr. Stacy was an established banker serving as a repo-man, loan officer, and into the ranks of President.
Luther is survived by his loving wife Jeanette Stacy; daughter Donna Tyler; son John Stacy and wife Kathy. 4 grandchildren; Heather Hrachovy and her husband Chad, Brandon Kitchen and wife Olivia, Sean Stacy and wife Kennedy, Ryan Stacy and girlfriend Kate Pekar and 2-great grandchildren Layne and Chase Hrachovy. And yes, let’s not forget his doggie friends; Charlie, Buddy, Kalee, and Nash.
Luther’s final words to his family and friends. “To all family and friends, do not weep for me – I want you to rejoice, and cherish the times we shared. When your appointed time comes, as it must, by all means do not fear the journey. When you arrive where I am in heaven, look me up. Our Heavenly Father and I will be waiting.”
