1936-2017
Lynn Spence, affectionately known as "Dear" to her grandkids and family, passed away on January 22, after an extended illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister and her eldest son, Robert, and survived by her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Fred; four children: Charlotte Koenig, Thomas, Timothy and Richard Spence; four granddaughters and seven grandsons, who will serve as her readers and pallbearers.
Lynn was born to Lucille Wilkins Mouton and Alexander B. Mouton, Sr. in Lafayette. LA. She graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in Abbeville, LA and the University of Houston, where she was an Alpha Delta Pi sister and honor pharmacy student, and later, president of the alumni association. There, she met and married Fred. Together, they owned and operated the world famous Post Oak Pharmacy in Uptown, building it into one of the country's most prominent independent pharmacies.
Lynn was blessed to have many lifelong friends, as well as those she and Fred met cruising around the world in retirement. Her volunteer and charity efforts included the Arbor School, St. Michael Catholic School, University of Houston College of Pharmacy, Discalced Carmelite Order (OCD), and the DAR. She was a loving, loyal, and sincere wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be missed...dearly.
We invite friends to visitation from 11:30-1pm, Sunday, January 29, Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, following her private burial. Our memorial celebration of Dear's life will follow at 12:30pm in the funeral chapel
