On Friday, September 6th, Madeline MV Astolfo. passed away peacefully at the age of 99.

Madeline was born on June 5th, 1920 in Houston, Texas to Ben and Sarah Verdina. Madeline lived a full life. She traveled the world with her beloved husband Sam for 54 years of her life. She was very artistic and talented. She designed and created beautiful stain glass pieces and loved painting wonderful works of art. She was active in her church as well as a member of many social clubs including the Saint Ambrose Women's Club, The Allegria Club, and The Italian Ladies Club. She also did the Silver Sneakers program for the YMCA along with several other organizations within the Italian Catholic Community, and did volunteer work throughout her life in Houston.

Madeline was preceded in death by her Father, Ben Verdina, Mother, Sarah Verdina, her beloved husband, Sam P. Astolfo, and her daughter, Antoinette Josephine Astolfo. She is survived by her son, Samuel J. Astolfo and daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Astolfo. Grandson Paul Anthony Astolfo. Her Brother J.B. Verdina and sister-in-law JoAnn Verdina. Her nieces and nephews, Diane & Geoff Perrin, Marilyn & Phillip F. Barletta, Larry & Ginger Astolfo, Louis & Nancy Astolfo, Sydney & Shirley Astolfo, Therese Astolfo & Rafael Pedrosa, Ben Verdina, Steven Astolfo, Michael Astolfo, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at Funeraria Del Angel 5100 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77022. at 5pm - 9pm, Rosary at 7pm on Wednesday, September 11th.

Funeral Services and Mass will be held at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd. Houston, Texas 77092 at 1pm on Thursday, September 12th.

Immediately followed by, Burial and gravesite service at Forest Park Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas, 77023.

Madeline worked at the Northwest YMCA (now it's named the Harriet and Joe Foster YMCA) for several years, taking care of the babies and young children. I admired her!
