On July 2, 1957, God blessed the world with the life of Madelyn Jean White Louis, the cherished daughter of Flora White and Ivory White, Jr. She was the second daughter born into their family and quickly became known for her outgoing, adventurous, and friendly spirit. Madelyn’s vibrant personality drew people to her, and her family and friends adored her. Those who knew her best will forever remember her impeccable style—always dressed in the latest fashions, with the perfect shoes, and, of course, her unforgettable blonde hair.
Madelyn was a proud graduate of Kashmere High School, Class of 1974. After spending several years in the workforce, she set her sights on higher education and earned her associate’s degree from Houston Community College—a milestone that filled her with great pride.
Brilliant and determined, Madelyn built a successful career as a legal assistant at Conoco Oil Company, where she served faithfully for 11 years. She later continued in various administrative roles before discovering her true calling as a home health care provider. Caring for others gave her immense joy, and she lived by the principle: “If I can’t help someone, I’m not going to hurt them.” Fearless in the face of challenges, Madelyn approached both her personal and professional life with grace, courage, and perseverance.
On January 7, 1983, Madelyn joined hands in marriage with John Alton Louis, Jr. Together they were blessed with two precious children, Kimberly Nicole and Jonathan Boyvae Louis. Madelyn’s heart overflowed with joy at the birth of her granddaughter, Zoe, who brought her immeasurable pride and happiness. Zoe brought her so much joy, she fondly called her “Tutti”.
Faith was the foundation of Madelyn’s life. She remained a devoted member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, where Pastor Leroy Lacy’s sermons often uplifted and inspired her. Even through health challenges, she faced every day with unwavering faith, believing that her breakthrough was always near.
To cherish her beautiful memory, Madelyn leaves her devoted daughter Kim, son-in-law Donald “DJ” Williams, Jr., treasured granddaughter Zoe, beloved son Jonathan Boyvae (Barra Jones), bonus grand¬children Josiah and Jair Lucas, brothers Robert Curtis White, Kenneth White, and Lionel White, special niece Myisha (Cody) Smith, numerous cousins including the White and Wilson families, and a host of other relatives and dear friends. She is also lovingly remembered by her devoted friends Donna Doucet Nicholson and Felecia German.
Madelyn now rejoins in eternal rest her parents Flora and Ivory White, Jr., and her sister Carolyn Sue White. Madelyn’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, strength, style, and faith. Though she has departed from this earthly home, her spirit, her laughter, and her love will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
