Madjid was born on April 26, 1951 in Tehran, Iran to Mohammad Jafar Haji Taghi Tehrani and Fatemeh (Afsar) Mirza Hossein. By great providence, he immigrated to Houston, Texas in 1978 in pursuit of the American Dream, narrowly escaping the historic Islamic Revolution that would begin a year later and forever change his homeland. Through a strong Iranian community of other like-minded immigrants, he forged lifelong friendships that would eventually become an extended family here in the United States. Together they birthed new friendships, business partnerships, marriages, children, and years upon years of unforgettable celebrations steeped in rich, culturally diverse traditions. Through their shared immigrant experience, Madjid and his friends survived, thrived, and succeeded in championing the American Dream, leaving their children and families in awe of all they accomplished together.
Having obtained his undergraduate degree from the Madreseh Aali Tarjomeh, he completed graduate studies at Texas Southern University and, after deciding he would not return to Iran as originally planned, met and married the love of his life and wife of 35 years, Margarita Dominguez Tehrani, a fellow immigrant herself from Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. With Margarita by his side, Madjid built a successful business and established significant investments that would allow him to provide for his family in a way that brought comfort, joy, and many opportunities for world travel, one of Madjid's favorite ways to enjoy the hard-earned fruits of his labor. Madjid's greatest joy and accomplishment, however, was his wife Margarita and two children, Arash Tehrani and Roxanna Tehrani-Moras, their respective spouses Lin Lin Tehrani and Rafael Moras, and perhaps his most cherished love of all, his grandson Kian Tehrani, son of Arash and Lin. Madjid is also survived by his parents Jafar and Afsar, his siblings Mahmoud, Mohsen, Mortezah, Zinat, and Zohreh and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Madjid will be remembered as a charismatic bullet of energy and tireless worker, who encouraged all to work hard in pursuit of a good life, remembering always to enjoy and share the fruits of their labor. His memory will live on as a man who was always full of life and possessed an endless desire to help, entertain, and make happy those he loved.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, January 26, at 10:00 AM (CST) at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery (13001 Katy Freeway, Houston TX 77079) within the Texas Liberty Mausoleum. A small reception will follow the graveside service for all who wish to attend. Guests are invited and encouraged to share a few words in celebration of Madjid's life during his memorial service.
