

Manuela Rodriguez Requenez passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 77. Manuela was born on October 9, 1947, in Pinos, Zacatecas, Mexico. She is preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe Rodriguez and Sara Fernandez Rodriguez, and her husband Samuel Requenez.
Manuela moved to the US from Mexico at age 14 and worked at Piccadilly Restaurant for over 30 years. She met her husband, Samuel, while working at Piccadilly, and they were teammates in their bowling league.
Manuela is survived by her son, James Requenez, and two grandchildren, Eden and Samuel Requenez, with his wife Melissa. Manuela was a loving abuela and always involved with her grandchildren and their activities.
Manuela is survived by her brother Marcos and sisters San Juana, Maria, and Belen. She is preceded in death by her siblings Aurelia, Marcelino, Gonzalo, Gregoria, Herminio, and Crescencia.
Manuela was an active member of many ministries including the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Happy Hearts at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, and she was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church for many years. She loved to dance, shop, tend to her flowers and plants, walk her chihuahuas, and enjoyed bus trips to the casinos with her friends. She was a huge lover of animals, supported animal charities, was dedicated to her own pets and those of her friends and family, and all dogs knew to come to Manuela when they wanted a treat.
Manuela will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 10:30am, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, with a reception immediately following the service from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the church’s Family Life Center. The visitation will take place the night before, on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, from 4-8pm.
