Marcella Rena West, 64, of Humble, Texas, passed into eternal rest on Thursday June 20, 2019. Rena was born on August 29, 1954 to Emmet and Lucille West, in Houston, Texas. She was a graduate of MacArthur High School in Houston, Texas. Due to a family tragedy, Rena adopted her sister's two children and raised them as her own. Rena spent more than two decades working in Aldine ISD food service, taking enjoyment each day from serving the children of the district. She furthered that love of children by volunteering in her community, including annually participating in the Houston Children's Festival. Rena was an avid traveler, from taking road trips around the United States, including a recent trip to the Redwoods in California, to walking the steps of the Great Wall in China.
Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Patricia; her son Greg; granddaughter Celeste; her son Shanon and wife Mistie; grandchildren: Cody, Robbie, Chelsie, Alexis; great-grandchildren Hunter, Hayden, Jackson, daughter Michelle; grandchildren Allen, Katheryn Christine, Jean Dean, Ashton, and great-grandson Jet, as well as countless family members and friends. Rena is preceded in death by her parents Emmett and Lucille West, her siblings Jimmy, Larry, Katherine, Eydie, and Terry.
Rena has touched the hearts of so many. She was a devoted mother, nana, friend, and loved one. No words can describe the loss the world has seen with such a heartfelt loving person no longer with us.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park in the Chapel of Chimes on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made in memory of Rena to the Ronald McDonald House of Houston at https://rmhhouston.org/donate/.
