Marcelle Vaughn Anderson passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Houston, Texas pm September 9, 2014. She was born in Loreauville, Louisiana, December 7, 1919. Marcelle had been a long-time resident of Port Arthur, Texas, from the time her family moved here in 1923 from Louisiana.
Marcelle is preceded in death by her parents, Clairborne and Reginia Vaughn; brothers Camay and Steven Vaughn; sister Evelyn Vaughn Moore Cordeau; and husband James Columbus Anderson.
Marcelle is survived by her brother Harry Vaughn of Port Arthur, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law Sally and Stephen Goodson of Houston, Texas; her two grandchildren Leslie Regina and James Joel Goodson, both of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Marcelle was a long-time employee of the City’s public library before retiring. She was a wonderfully generous and fun friend to all, a kind and gentle grandmother, and delightful mother.
Marcelle was an exceptionally sweet person who will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
