Margaret LaRue Bruner, born Margaret Ann Bodman, passed peacefully on May 23, 2020 at the age of 89 surrounded by her loving family. Always full of life and laughter, “Mega”, as she was affectionately known by all who knew her, loved her family and her Catholic Faith.
Margaret was born December 23, 1930 to Glen and Mabel Bodman in Ponca City, Oklahoma; youngest of six children. She graduated from Ponca City High School at age 16 and attended Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois where she met Wayne LaRue. They later married on August 27, 1949 and had 5 children.
After Wayne’s death, Mega married Fred Bruner on July 22, 1996. They began their life together in Standish, Michigan and spent winters in Houston for many years before permanently settling in Montgomery, Texas.
Mega was a most nurturing, loving, supporting mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife whose family meant the world to her. As a devout Catholic she volunteered, was a Eucharistic Minister and served as a member of the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed bird-watching, especially humming birds, was an avid gardener and was always up for a competitive game of bridge. She was very crafty and enjoyed making ceramics, painting beautiful rocks and sewing. She also loved Christmastime. Her Christmas gifts were always handmade, simple and absolutely priceless.
