

Margaret Mary (Peggy) Ellis Everts, affectionately known as Dear by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Peggy was born October 17, 1923 in Houston, Texas to Louise Cornelia Tuffly and Thomas Fordtran Ellis. She was the oldest of their four children, Thomas Fordtran Ellis Jr, Louis Tuffly Ellis and Billie John Ellis. She married George Bert Everts August 28, 1948. Peggy spent her childhood in Houston surrounded by a large extended family. She attended St. Agnes High School. Her college career began at Mount St. Scholastica in Kansas. She completed her registered nursing degree at University of Texas in Austin and her sociology degree at Lamar University in Beaumont. Peggy began her nursing career at Brackenridge hospital, followed by school nursing for 25 years. Throughout her married life with Bert, Peggy lived in Houston, Galveston, Dickinson and Beaumont. She was so happy to return to Houston in 1979 where she and Bert remained. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Bert, son George Mark Everts, grandson, Ryan Patrick McCarry and brother Thomas Fordtran Ellis.
She is survived by her children: Margaret Mary Everts Nordin (Bobby), Donald Robert Everts (Claire), Beth Everts McCarry, Claudia Everts Goldman (Gary), Jack Richard Everts (Mary), and her grandchildren: Tiffany Nordin Day (Ryan), Natalie Nordin Quinn (Craig), Emily Nordin Herrera (Michael), Gregory Nordin (Sarah), Christopher Nordin, Michael Everts, Jordan Everts, Kevin McCarry, Megan McCarry Eodice (Joe), Britton Goldman (Brittney), Audrey Goldman Kirn (Jeff), Bailey Everts (Ryan), Austin Everts, Connor Everts, and Garrett Everts. Great grandchildren: Taylor and Colin Day, Max and Eleanor Quinn, Blakely Goldman, Lynzy Kirn.
Visitation with family will be Friday, June 17 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024 . Funeral will be Saturday, June 18 at 9:30 AM at St. Edith Stein Catholic Community, 3311 N Fry Rd, Katy, Texas 77449. Burial to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd., Houston, Texas 77077.
