parents Robert and Agnes Brown, whose mission field was in
San Antonio, Texas. Margaret grew up with two sisters and four brothers.
At the age of 16, Mom and our Dad, Leslie Aubrey McLean, eloped to
Corpus Christi, lived two years on an Army post in Panama and three years
in Brooklyn, finally settling in Houston. Mom and Dad were married for
53 years before Dad went to be with the Lord in 2006. Their passion was a love
of Jesus, they served at First Baptist Church for over a decade as Sunday school
teachers, were active volunteers at The Star of Hope and ministered to families
in the Third Ward, bringing them to church on Sundays. Mom also acted as a
mother to many of those in the various neighborhoods in which she resided,
including acting as a guarding to Molly, a teenager left on our doorstep by a
woman in crisis.
They moved to Westside Baptist Church where they continued to serve freely
and minister to families nearby and shuttle kids to church. Mom’s faith was
the glue that held us together, she served her husband, and family well. She
lived her life always content in her love of the Lord.
Margaret is survived by all six of her siblings Helen San Roman, Kathy Lozano,
Robert Brown, Stuart Brown, Paul Brown and David Brown. And, her four
children—Chris McLean, Vincent McLean (wife Marcia), Tim McLean and
Ruth Ann Johnson (husband Justin), as well as ten grandchildren and one
great grandchild.
Margaret was a giving servant of a mother who loved the Lord, was always
home for her family and continued to love and support them into their adult
lives. She was a prayer warrior who had no interest in material things but
instead gave freely of herself to all she touched in life.
Margaret Ann McLean died at the age of 78 in the arms of our Lord Jesus
Christ and joined her husband in death. Our dear mother will be greatly
missed, but we take comfort knowing she is walking in perfect peace with her
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and has been reunited with her loving husband.
