“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
For Christians, every Sunday is a celebration of Easter because it represents the day Jesus conquered death. Monday, July 26, 2021, at 11:40 p.m., Margaret H. Pina joined the Easter Parade. Her husband of 65 years, Tony D. Piña and her father, Lazaro T. Hernandez and mother, Benina B. Hernandez are waiting for her in heaven. Also waiting for her are sisters Mary H. Jimenez and Alice H. Jourard and brothers Daniel B. Hernandez and Johnny B. Hernandez.
Margaret was the oldest of twelve children. She is survived by her cherished family, daughter Debra Lynn and son-in-law Steve Olivarez, grandsons Matthew and Angelo Olivarez, and their dogs Sammy and Lady. In addition, three brothers Gilbert, Lazaro Jr., Jody and three sisters Lupe, Martha and Naomi including numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family would be the first to agree and tell you she modeled generosity and love for those in need. Her door was always open, day or night, especially to her family members and friends. Graciously Margaret’s loving hands prepared delicious meals for all that visited. You never left her table hungry! We will miss her encouraging and uplifting words, her sense of humor and the sayings she shared as words of wisdom about life.
Margaret was a member of Second Baptist Church Jacinto City for twenty-three years and served on the Activities Committee. She was also a member of the Denver Harbor Senior Citizens group for nineteen years.
Margaret loved sports! She cheered on the Houston sports teams of the past and present. A long-time loyal fan of the Oilers, Astros, Rockets and Texans, she loved watching and cheering for her teams and supporting them win or lose. She had her favorite players and coaches many of whom she personally met during her days as an avid sports fan.
Margaret’s smile never faded. Her caring spirit lives on in many of the lives she touched. Margaret, you will be missed dearly, we love you.
