Margaret Mary Podraza

MARGARET MARY PODRAZA, 85, of Houston, TX passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 27, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Tony Podraza, parents Sylvester and Viola Yorek; sisters Theresa Ripkowski and Cecelia Barr, brother William Yorek.

She is survived by her sons Gary Podraza and wife Carol, Alan Podraza, Brian Podraza and Kelly Franco, daughters Sharon Podraza and Kim Podraza, grandchildren Brandi Podraza, Cody Podraza, Angelia Podraza and Colton Podraza, great grandsons Landon and Jadon Shipley. She is also survived by brother Albert Yorek and sisters Pauline Harris and Sadie Husband and husband Joe, numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was born on October 6, 1928 in Stoneham, TX. She attended Marshall High School in Houston, TX. Early in her career she was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank until she became a devoted wife and loving Mother. She was known for her kind nature and love of flowers, music, dancing and baking. She was favored by nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She loved to decorate, have parties and cooked a feast on every holiday. We often joked that she would hang an ornament on you if you stood there long enough!

We are grateful for the time we had with her but knowing that she is now at peace in Heaven with our loving Father is a comfort to us all. She will forever be missed. We love you Mom.

Church donations are welcomed to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Community, 3600 Brinkman, Houston, TX 77018.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00PM Sunday Nov 3 followed by stories and remembrances. A Holy Rosary will begin at 4:30PM in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley & Co. Funeral Director’s. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:30PM in the sanctuary of St. Rose of Lima, 3600 Brinkman, Houston, TX with Interment to follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
