Margaret Jones Wells

Margaret Jones Wells passed away peacefully on November 10, 2021. Margaret was born in Dallas, Texas to Donald Jones and Faye Lockley on August 31, 1934. She moved to Houston in 1938 where she would grow up and attend Reagan High School in the Houston Heights.

Margaret worked under Judge Roy Hofheinz for the Colt 45’s baseball team that would become the Houston Astros. She was there to see The Astrodome built among so many other wonderful experiences. In 1970 she left the Astros to open her own Merle Norman store in Downtown Houston. While she loved her store and her customers she would soon close the store to join her husband, Joe Wells, in running their family business Art Glass by Wells. Margaret loved working at the glass shop, especially being able to spend so much time her husband, Joe, her son, Steve, and her granddaughter Elizabeth.

Outside of work she loved to spend time with family. Margaret was a very attentive mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Margaret would travel every weekend to spend time with her special needs daughter, “Angel”, often taking a grandchild with her. She loved going on road trips with her brother Lynn, spending Christmas Eve at her nephews house with her brother Don, going for dinners at her son Ricks house and seeing all of her grand and great-grandchildren as often as she could.

Margaret was a dedicated member of Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending her Sunday School class and participating in all the charity events throughout the year.

Margaret is predeceased by her husband Joe Wells and daughter Angela Wells. Margaret is survived by her sons Richard Wilson and Steven Wilson; stepdaughter Deborah Kirk McCormack; grandchildren Tina Gillespie, Susan Rogers, Kirk Mayberry, Arik Vasek, Elizabeth Miller, Dane Wilson, Megan Wilson, and Tristan Wilson; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her brothers Donald Jones and Lynn Jones.

A memorial service will be held Friday November 19, 2021 at 10:00 am in the chapel at Second Baptist church.
