Maria de la Luz Gonzalez

Maria de la Luz Gonzalez, 76, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Zamora, Michoacán, Mexico, Maria carried the warmth and traditions of her homeland with her throughout her life, especially through her passion for cooking and storytelling.

Maria was known for her incredible memory and her deep love for family history. She brought past generations to life with her vivid stories, preserving her family's legacy for all who listened. She had a special talent for making others feel seen and loved — especially her many nieces and nephews, to whom she was a devoted and joyful godmother and aunt.

Her days were often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals and the familiar drama of her favorite telenovelas. Whether in the kitchen or on the couch, Maria's presence was a constant source of comfort and connection.

She was a cherished sister to Lydia Mata, Maria Estela Garay, Agustin Gonzalez, and Martin Jesus Gonzalez. She now joins in eternal rest her beloved parents, Agustin and Maria Luisa Gonzalez, and her siblings Rosalia Gonzalez, Maria de Lourdes Gonzalez, and Raul Francisco Gonzalez.

Maria de la Luz Gonzalez will be remembered for her heart, her stories, and her enduring love for family. Her spirit will live on in the traditions she kept alive and the many lives she touched.

A visitation for Maria will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087. A prayer service will occur Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7250 Harrisburg Blvd, Houston, TX 77011. A committal service will occur Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023.
