

MARIA CHRISTINA HERNANDEZ HAGUE died on July 11, 2011 after a long, courageous battle with leukemia. She was born on December 17, 1972, in Houston, TX, one of two daughters born to Ruben and Graciela (Guillen) Hernandez. In October 1999, she married Alexander Graham MacKenzie Hague, and together they had three sons, Aidan Graham Mackenzie, Nicholas James, and Nigel Christian. She graduated from the High School for Health Professions in Houston, TX and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Communications from the University of Houston. She began her teaching career as a kindergarten teacher at Owens Elementary School in the Cy-Fair School District and later, as a first grade teacher at Alexander Elementary School at Katy ISD.
Christina is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Geronima (Palos) and Baltazar Hernandez, and maternal grandparents, Martina (Vera) and Domingo R. Guillen. She is survived by her husband and sons, her parents and sister, Leandra, her in-laws, Jane and John Marsh and family, Nigel and Rosa Hague of Reading, England, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many, many loving friends.
Chrissy was happy spending time with her family (especially at family reunions) and friends, attending a NKOTB or Duran Duran concert, enjoying a Doppio Campana from Starbucks and eating Tres Leches cake. She relished shopping for handbags, shoes, designer sunglasses and kitchen gadgets. Chrissy was a beautiful person with a smile and spirit that touched so many lives around her. Even in her battle with cancer, she faced the disease with determination, courage, strength, humor and grace, always with the expectation of resuming her role as wife, mother, daughter, sister, and family member. Her death is a tremendous loss to so many, but she will always be remembered by those who loved her and knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 5-8PM with recitation of rosary at 7PM at Forest Park Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, (281) 497-2330. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10AM at St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church, 10503 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77077. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Houston.
