Maria Bernabe Martinez, age 89, passed away on August 8, 2026. Born on June 11, 1937, in Mexico, Maria was the daughter of Ernesto and Emilia Galaviz. She later made her home in Houston, Texas, where she built a life defined by steady devotion, straightforward integrity, and deep love for those closest to her.
Maria was married to Julio Martinez for ten years before his sudden passing. In the years they shared, she cherished simple joys and meaningful moments, including the time they spent dancing together—memories that remained tender and enduring.
Above all else, Maria’s heart belonged to her family. She took immense pride in being a Grandma and wanted nothing more than to spend her time with her grandchildren, offering them her attention, her care, and the kind of dependable presence that made others feel safe and valued. Her strength showed not in grand declarations, but in the way she consistently showed up—working hard, speaking honestly, and meeting life with quiet confidence.
At home, Maria enjoyed the comfort of familiar routines. She loved watching her telenovelas, The Price is Right, and Wheel of Fortune, and she made sure to watch Naked and Afraid every Sunday. These everyday pleasures were part of the rhythm of her life—steady, personal, and warmly her own.
