

Marianne Oeland McCall, 86, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 20th of November 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Marianne’s wisdom, grace, and faith touched all who knew her.
Born in Houston, to Raymond W. Oeland, Sr. and Anne Thorburn Oeland, Marianne grew up with her brother, Raymond W. Oeland, Jr., on Wickersham Lane. In those early years, Marianne made several lifelong friends, Fay, Betsy, Francia and Kate who became known as the Wickersham Five. They remained very close for more than eight decades.
Marianne was a 1955 Lamar High School graduate and went on to earn a Mathematics degree from the University of Texas in 1959. That same year, she married Sterling Bond McCall, Jr., and together they raised four children: Sterling Bond McCall, III, Raymond O. McCall, Allison A. McCall, and Karen M. Brown. In addition, she was the beloved “Mimi” to 12 grandchildren who will forever cherish her warmth and kindness.
Marianne enjoyed tennis, world travel, and her cherished poodles. She found joy in serving others, volunteering at Texas Children’s Hospital, leading Community Bible Study programs, and staying active in Pi Beta Phi alumnae activities. Her unwavering faith and love left an enduring legacy.
Marianne is survived by her children, Sterling Bond McCall, III and wife Mauri, Raymond O. McCall and wife Monica, Allison A. McCall, and Karen M. Brown and husband Steve; her grandchildren, Madison McCall and wife Niza, Maegan McCall, Merritt Walker and husband Christian, Madeleine McCall, Avery McCall, Virginia Sitzes, Grace Martinez and husband William, Anna Sitzes, Margaret Sitzes, AnneElise Brown, Corbin Brown, and MaryClaire Brown. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sterling B. McCall, Jr.; her parents, Raymond W. Oeland, Sr. and Anne T. Oeland; and her brother, Raymond W. Oeland, Jr.
A celebration of her life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 2nd of December in the Chapel of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay St in Houston.
