Marianne was born on May 19, 1935 in Nuremberg, Germany as a proud Bavarian. She was raised in the wake of WWII Germany and married an American soldier, Robert Richey Sr. in 1959.
She made one major move in her lifetime when she immigrated from Germany to the United States in 1960. Proud and strong, she considered herself Texan first, American second and German third. She spent the entirety of her time in America in Houston, Texas, 58 of those years in the same house during which time she raised three children and was graced with four grandchildren. She could often be heard saying, "Let me tell you something..." as she shook her finger while blessing her children and grandchildren with her years of wisdom.
She was fiercely independent, a fighter to the end, with a charismatic style and a heart of gold for all whom she came in contact with. She was a networker in her personal and work life and often the glue that kept family and friends together. We will miss her boundless energy, strong opinions and up-for-anything attitude.
She is survived by her two children, Robert Richey Jr. and Christine Kalvenes and her four grand children, Roxanne Richey, Reed Richey, Anders Kalvenes and Isabella Kalvenes. She is also survived by a large network of friends whom she considered family.
Mother/Oma, you will be missed deeply but fondly remembered.
