She is survived by her six children; Yajaira Nevarez, Abigail Sanchez, Nathan Nevarez, Jose Curiel, Esly Curiel, and Hannamaurie Curiel. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren, all girls, Hailey Campos, Valeria Nevarez-Castellon, Catalina Curiel, and Hope Gonzalez. Maricela was born and raised in Houston, TX. Her favorite hobbies were to knit and repair anything she could get her hands on. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing with her grandkids.
Maricela will dearly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend; whose love and care brought warmth to everyone around her. Her memory will guide and inspire her family.
Even though she is no longer with us, the love and memories she shared will remain forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park, 2454 S Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077, US, on March 20, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
