Marie M. Rabalais

March 20, 1950June 27, 2017

Marietta “Marie” (Melancon) Rabalais passed from her temporary earthly existence to her eternal heavenly life on June 27, 2017. Marie was 67 years old, a member of St. Martha Catholic Church and a resident of Kingwood, TX. She was born in Baton Rouge, LA to her parents Joseph and Margaret (Brewerton) Melancon on March 20, 1950. Marie married her husband, Gary, on December 31, 1969, and they were married for 47 years. Her greatest accomplishments were her children, Caroline and Caleb, and her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Hunter. Because of her caring spirit, Marie involved herself in a number of church ministries which focused on the spiritual and emotional support of others. Marie was special in the lives of many people and she enjoyed the company of so many friends, including her GWRRA Chapter N2 “family”. To many, she was a treasure; to her family, she was a gift. Marie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael. She is survived by her husband, children, son-in-law, Garrick Landrum, granddaughter, sisters, Ellen Lombardo married to Frank and Catherine Lombardo married to Joe, brothers Joseph, Donald and Leo, sister-in-law, Patti Johnson married to Ted, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Martha Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Kingwood, Texas 77365 with interment to follow to Houston National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Houston Hospice, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Special thanks to the staff at CHI St. Luke’s Hospital, Houston Hospice, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, and SureCare At Home for Marie’s care. “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing…[for] I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23)

I did not know of your passing. It deeply saddens me. Your kindness as my neighbor for the past 16 years were always a real blessing. You supported me through my down times and opened up to reassure me I wasn't alone. Thank you for being a friend. You were wonderful.

Gary, I knew Marie from her work at Regent Care Center. Whenever I saw her interact with the residents, she was always so patient and caring. She also went out of her way to help me by bringing me ashes etc. She will be greatly missed.

Gary, although we haven't seen each other since you moved to TX, I think of you and Marie often and remember the fun times Caroline and Donna had when they took dance together many years ago. Marie was always such a warm and caring friend with the kindest of hearts. May God comfort you all at this difficult time.
