Marilyn Kay Ivey

Born on August 16, 1947, to Jonell and R.N. Ivey, Marilyn lived with cerebral palsy, but it never defined the beautiful and meaningful life she lived. She had a gentle, joyful spirit and a special way of bringing happiness to everyone around her.

Marilyn was a resident of Richmond State School for 55 years. She was deeply loved by her wonderful caregivers, who filled her life with joy and meaningful experiences. They cared for her with love and compassion and remained by her side until the very end.

Marilyn loved music, animals, magazine pictures, and watching television, but most of all, she loved her family. She would get so excited when her family walked in the room. She would light the room up with her smile and excitement.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her mother, Jonell Ivey; her father, R.N. Ivey; her sister-in-law, Janice Ivey; and her nephew, Richard Harrington.

She is survived by her brother, Roger Ivey and his wife, Judy; her sister, Terrie Kilgore and her husband, Kevin; her niece, Rhonda Bell and her husband, Steve; her nephew, Dale Ivey and his wife, Jennifer; her niece, Renee Frank and her husband, Jerry; her nephew, Jarrod Kilgore; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Marilyn's life was a beautiful reminder that joy can be found in the simplest things—a favorite song, a familiar face, and time spent with those we love. She had a sweetness that touched everyone who knew her. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared will remain in the hearts of her family, caregivers, and friends.

Marilyn will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
