

Marion Cage Kelly Black passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in Houston on Thursday, the 7th of June 2012. She was predeceased by her mother, the late Chaille Cage Kelly. A devoted mother, she is survived by her husband, Darrin Martin; her children, Travis Black and Kelly Black; a brother, Elliott Cage Kelly; her father, Lawrence E. Kelly; her aunt, Catherine Cage Bruns; and a cousin, Michael Bruns.
Born on the 27th of December 1961, Marion graduated from Memorial High School in 1978 and attended Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, where she was enrolled in the College Honors Program.
Her occupational career spanned years in health care and faith service, highlighted by positions of Assistant Administrator at Starlight Village Hospital in Center Point, Texas, and Executive Director of the "Conversations with God" Recreation Foundation in Ashland, Oregon. Marion also had her own nursing staff business in Kerrville, Texas.
Marion will be remembered for raising her children to be independent individuals and for her helping people struggling with addictions; a struggle which she herself fought.
A graveside service and inurnment is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 19th of June, in the Stream Garden Section of Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Avenue in Houston, where Rev. John Barksdale, Executive Director of Pastoral Ministries at Second Baptist Church, is to officiate. A uniformed steward from Geo. H. Lewis & Sons is to be positioned at the cemetery's entrance so as to guide guests to the Stream Garden.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Marion's memory may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
