Marion A. Kasowski of Houston, Texas passed away on Saturday March 30, 2019 at the age of 83.

Marion was born on August 21, 1935 in Marlin, Texas to Mary Kasowski and Phillip Kasowski. He grew up in Bremond graduating from Bremond High School in 1953.

As a young man he moved to Houston, Texas and began work at a factory, later moving on to a job at Armour Meat Packing Company as a salesman. During this time he met his future wife, Florence Jozwiak, at a local dance. The two were married August 11, 1956 at Christ the King Church.

He joined the Houston Police Department (HPD) and attended the Houston Police Academy, graduating on May 31, 1957. After graduation he was a uniformed officer in Houston until being drafted into the US Army on April 30, 1958. After boot camp he attended the US Army Engineering School where his training was interrupted when he was sent to Korea. After spending time overseas he was honorably discharged from the Army on April 29, 1960.

Upon his return from the military he resumed his duties at HPD working his way upward to become Captain in Charge of Planning for HPD, the Director of Training for the Houston Police Academy, and then Captain of the Narcotics Division. During his time in HPD he also acted as a consultant for St. Joseph Hospital, an instructor of Police Organization and Supervision courses at the University of Houston, and served as a member of the Sam Houston State University Criminal Justice Committee.

Throughout his adult life he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2917, becoming a 4th degree knight and ultimately being elected as Grand Knight, leading the efforts to plan and build a new hall on Whitney Drive in Houston.

He attended University of Houston obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1970.

After 20 years of service at HPD he retired in August of 1977. He went on to work for St. Joseph Hospital full time as the Director of Special Services coordinating the safety and security activities for the hospital. During this time he acquired a printing company in April 1980, Kwik Kopy Printing. After 9 years with St. Joseph he moved on to support the printing company full time, eventually acquiring a second Kwik Kopy in 1986. After 25 years in business he officially retired.

During retirement he spent time traveling with his wife and family. One of his favorite past times was skiing. He and Florence went on many trips to ski in faraway locales including South America and Europe. They even spread this love of snow sports in their children and grandchildren, taking the whole family on many ski trips to Colorado.

Another hobby he enjoyed was fishing, eventually building a lake home on Richland Chambers where he and Florence would take evening boat trips out on the lake to fish and take in the sunset.
