Marion passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on December 29th after a brief battle with peritoneal cancer. Marion was born and raised in Far Rockaway, New York. She graduated from State University of New York, at New Paltz and was an elementary school teacher, first in New York and later in Houston at Heflin Elementary School in Alief Independent School District until 2003.
Marion became an avid quilter and volunteer when she retired from teaching. She was an active member of the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston and the West Houston Quilt Guild for the past twenty years.
She is survived by her two children, Mark Vetter of Houston and Carol Vetter Friedland and husband Eric of New Canaan, CT, and her two grandchildren, Madeline and Max Friedland.
She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Gibala of North Wales, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Thomas Vetter, her parents, William and Lucille O’Connor, her brother, William O’Connor and sister, Lucille Paul.
A memorial service will be Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
