Marjorie Glenn McDonald

Marjorie’s life was centered on the people she loved. She graciously gave and assisted everyone and anyone every single day of her life including her family, fellow church members, numerous neighbors and most importantly complete strangers. She sought out the good in everyone who crossed her path. Her family will cherish the countless memories they shared with her and the lasting example of love, generosity, humility, and devotion she leaves behind.

Marjorie’s life began in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. Five children later and far too many frigid snowy winters to remember along with the promise of new opportunities led her and Kenneth to establish new roots in Atascocita, Texas in 1981. Marion, Bob and Carol moved at the same time. Shortly after, Jim and Linda joined the newly transplanted Pennsylvanians who quickly and proudly became Texans. Kenneth used to say that we weren’t born in Texas, but we got here as soon as we could.

She was a lifelong devoted Christian and an active member in many churches throughout her life including the House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Atascocita Lutheran Church in Humble, the Toledo Bend Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Jasper.

She was also an active member of several philanthropic organizations throughout her life including the Pennsylvania Order of the Eastern Star, the ladies auxiliary for the Raccoon Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Jasper Quilting Guild, and the Jasper Garden Club.

She is survived by her daughters Marion and Carol; her sons Robert and James (Sally); her grandchildren, Danielle (Doss), Nick, Joel, Lindsay and Glenn, as well as Shannon (Jay), Allison (Jason), Crystal (Yahir), Ben and their mother, Laura; and her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ashton, Naïve, Addicus, Henry, Madelynn, Lauralei, Carlee, Rosalie, Alexandria, Evan, Jayden, Cali, and Nova; and her beloved cousin, Janet in Pennsylvania, that she thought of as a sister.

She was preceded in death by husband Kenneth (Ken, KL, pap pap, Dad) Glenn, husband Blanton (Music Man) McDonald, her parents Ruth and Henry Eugene Burlingame, brother Charles (Chuck) and daughter, Linda as well as great grandchildren Jacob and Caston.

A funeral service honoring Marjorie’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd at 10:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.

The family invites relatives and friends to join them in remembering and celebrating Marjorie’s extraordinary life.

Marjorie (the best mom in the world) will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered forever. May her memory bring comfort to all whose lives she touched.
