Mark was born on February 5, 1957 in Corpus Christi, Texas and relocated to Galveston, Texas eventually moving to his permanent home in Houston, Texas where he met his wife Ena Elia. The couple shared 34 wonderful years of marriage and raised three beautiful children together. Mark had the endearing nickname of “PapaMark” that was given to him by his children. He was a devoted father and his children will always cherish the memories, life lessons learned and guidance he gave them.
Mark was a self-reliant and diligent man. He was loved and admired by all his peers who said that he was one of the smartest and hardworking men they knew. Mark had a passion for cars and was very mechanically inclined. He owned two automotive repair shops. The first was Northwest Auto Center which he eventually sold his half of the business so he could open up the second shop with his youngest brother David Masera. They built the shop from the ground up and Fairfield Auto Center opened it’s doors in 1998. Eventually they sold that shop and started a blasting/powder coating business called Advanced Powder Coating. After 9 years, they sold the powder coating shop and Mark began a new adventure. He got his commercial driving license and began to make deliveries across the United States. He really enjoyed driving, seeing new sights and enjoying different foods on the road. Mark dedicated his time, attention to learning, and in 2002 became a Masonic brother. In 2003, he achieved the title of Master Mason (President). He also organized and led their annual BBQ Cook Off which benefited “Reach Unlimited”.
When he was not working, he split his time between fishing, hunting at the lease with his brothers, bee keeping, listening to jazz/blues music, cooking and starting various projects such as the property he had in Magnolia, Texas. He also really enjoyed taking his BMW R1150RT out for rides around town.
Mark will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 12 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and a reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Reach Unlimited charity. This is an organization that was close to Mark’s heart that assists people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
