

Marlene Ann Romero, of Houston, Texas, was received by the angels into eternal peace and reunited in heaven with the love of her life, Larry Romero, on Sunday, December 29, 2024. She lived a long, full, and happy life of 83 years and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Marlene was born on October 20, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas to Vincent Lena and Callie Genaurdi and graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur in 1959. She was a long-time resident of Houston, and an avid member of the Charity Guild of Catholic Women, the Amiketos Club, and the St. Cecilia Prime Timers.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 40 years, Larry Romero. She will forever be missed by her son, Craig Romero and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Romero; her precious grandchildren, Blake Romero and Avery Romero; her sister, Marilyn Angelle and brother-in-law, Jim Angelle; her nephew, Bryan Angelle; her niece, Amy Oliver and husband, Tony Oliver, along with her great-niece, Grace Oliver; her brother-in-law, Don Mosca and wife, Sharron Mosca; her brother-in-law, Leonard Mosca and wife, Penny Mosca; and her brother-in-law, Robbie Romero and wife, Pam Romero. She will also be greatly missed and fondly remembered by countless family and friends.
Marlene was a fabulous wedding cake designer and baker, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and loved to travel the world, especially her countless trips to her treasured Italy. She also loved playing Mahjong and rooting for her favorite team, the Houston Astros. She was loving, loyal, fierce, devoted, and incredibly proud of her Italian heritage.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, where Marlene was a devoted parishioner for decades. Rev. Francis Macatangay will be the Celebrant. Honorary pallbearers will be Marilyn Angelle, Bryan Angelle, Amy Oliver, Jan Young, Liz Ivers, and Jo Anne Neslage. A reception will follow at the church at 11:30am. The family will then attend the Rite of Committal at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
