It is with deep sadness and great love that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Marlin Lane Kinat, who left this world on June 2, 2025, at the age of 71. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family, joining his beloved wife, Doretta and father, Fred in eternal rest.
Born on March 28, 1954, in Houston, Texas, Marlin was a proud graduate of Waltrip High School, class of 1973. He married the love of his life, Doretta Garner, on February 15, 1974, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and unwavering dedication to family.
Marlin was a man of quiet strength, sharp wit, and deep integrity. A devoted husband and proud father, he also found immense joy in being a grandfather. His grandchildren knew him as “Cappy”—a name spoken with laughter, love, and the warmest memories. A driven and talented entrepreneur, Marlin founded Lite Productions, which became one of Houston’s most reputable audio/visual event companies. He believed in the value of hard work, precision, and delivering nothing but the highest quality service. He led the business with heart and hustle until his well-earned retirement in 2019.
He is survived by his children Marla Kinat and spouse Morgan Chan, with children Avery and Aiden, of Houston, TX; Evan Kinat and spouse Aubrey Kinat, with children Jackson and Amelia, of Katy, TX; and Lacey Kinat and spouse Harmon Wood, with son Jonas, of Euless, TX.
He is also survived by his mother Beverly Kinat and siblings: Fred Kinat and spouse Diane of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Donna Mercer and spouse Charles of Liberty, Texas, Rhonda Davis and spouse Tim of Lake Mary, Florida, and Faith Thomas and spouse Bill of Cincinnati, Ohio, along with a large extended family of beloved nieces, nephews, and many others whose lives were made brighter by his presence.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park located at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. All who loved Marlin are invited to gather and share in remembering the remarkable man he was. In accordance with Marlin's wishes, a private graveside service will be held separately for immediate family. Memorial and floral donations may be sent to Brookside Funeral Home.
Though he is no longer with us, Marlin’s legacy lives on—in the laughter of his grandchildren, the strength of his children, and the love he gave so freely. He had a life well-lived and deeply loved
