Our mother was born in Rodessa, LA to Louis and Eunice Rogers. Marty and her 6 siblings were raised mostly in Arkansas, Congo area east side of Little Rock on a family farm. Due to her father’s work, they moved to California, Washington, and Montana in her teen years. She graduated high school in Boseman, MT in 1956. Shortly after they moved to Dallas to get treatment for her father’s failing health.
She met the love of her life, Bob Knowles, in Dallas and they were married in 1957. They welcomed their 1st son, Antony in 1958 and 2nd son, Roger in 1960. Bob was taken from us by illness in 1984. Marty settled in a home in Irving, TX working in the Dallas banking industry for over 25 years.
Marty’s strong Christian faith led her to be a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother to her family. In retirement she was a caregiver to her mother, Eunice, until her death in 2001. She assisted her sister, Francis, in caring for her disabled husband, Chuck, spending extensive time in their home in the San Diego area. After Francis’ death in 2019, Marty moved in with her son Tony and divided time between his Houston home and her son Roger’s Dallas home. She had a true servant’s heart and was loved by all who knew her. The loss of her presence will leave a great void in the lives of all who were lucky enough to be close to her.
Martha is survived by brother Gerald ‘Wayne’ Rogers and wife Carol, son Antony ‘Tony’ Knowles and wife Blanca ‘Luz’ Knowles, and son Roger Knowles and wife Julie, Niece Dawn Campbell and husband Greg Campbell. Marty is also survived by Grandchildren – TJ, Jeremy, Lacey, Andrew, Blaine, Valerie, Kyle, Crystal, John, Jazmine, Elvin, Christopher, and Natalie. As well as 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their children.
Marty was preceded in death by father, L B Rogers and mother Eunice Rogers, husband, Bob Knowles. Also deceased are brothers, Kenneth Rogers, Raymond Rogers, Charles Rogers, Jerry Rogers and sister Francis LaCava.
We take comfort in knowing that we will be reunited with Marty one day. We know her suffering has ended, and she is with our loved ones who have gone ahead of us on the journey to eternity.
