Martha Nell Pressley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with her Lord on June 30, 2014, in Houston, Texas at 78 years of age. Born in San Augustine, Texas on August 13, 1935, Martha is survived by her husband of 47 years, Henry Pressley and 4 children: Kenneth Self, Tina Faircloth, Twanya Weber and Tracy Schiele. Martha is grandmother to 10 grandchildren and great-grandmother to another 5 children.
Our mother was the strongest, most persevering woman we ever knew. She was loyal, loving, witty, and courageous. She was incredibly funny and loved to laugh at life. She loved her family unconditionally and defended them fiercely, even when they didn’t deserve it. Mom loved shoes. She loved to dance. She loved good sheets. She loved cook books and cooking new, strange foods and because of this, we all shared many great holiday dinners.
Though she is gone, her memories, her example on how to live and love, will always live on, inside of us. Every tear has been wiped away ~ every sorrow is forever gone, she’s home, where she can dance, run, and jump. Thanks be to God for our hope in Christ Jesus.
Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever."
Isaiah 41:10, 13, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand … For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
