Marva Jo Fant

Marva Jo Fant, 71, of Alice, TX, passed away on Sunday, May 24th, 2026 in Houston, TX surrounded by her sons at home.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, Saturday, June 13, 2026 in the main chapel of Garden Oaks Funeral Home (13430 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77083). Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will conclude the day's services at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery (12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077). Arrangements are by Garden Oaks Funeral Home.

Marva Jo Fant was born in Alice, TX to Billie Jo Miller and David “Lightening” Fant, Jr. She graduated from Skidmore-Tynan High in 1972. Throughout school, she played volleyball, basketball and track and field. She excelled academically and was a member of the 4H Club. She earned a Nursing Degree from St. Phillip’s College in San Antonio in 1975. She served as a nurse in multiple fields of nursing for over 40 years.

Marva Jo enjoyed freestyle sewing, dancing, singing, cooking, helping others and loving her four sons. She was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs.

Marva Jo is preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Marsha and Shawna, brothers Gary and David III, and her granddaughter Kalicy.

Marva Jo is survived by her sons Cecil Fant, Emmanuel Ajiodo II (Joy), Eluojo Ajiodo (Angelica) and Okolo Ajiodo (Keatta); siblings Debra Smith, Donna Smith, Adrian Smith, Terri Smith, Sidney Smith and James Smith; grandchildren Jordan, Alexys, Erikah, Knowledge, Aiden, Aziah, Emmanuel III, Azuree, Kamari, Marlei, Imari, Kobi, Legacy, Kaia, Okolo III, Amyah, Quinne, Anjelica, Anjre; 4 great grandchildren Brilynn, Dylan, Dream, Alano and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Adrian Smith, Sidney Smith, Cecil Fant, Emmanuel Ajiodo, Eluojo Ajiodo, and Okolo Ajiodo.
