Marvin Sue Greaser was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Samuel and Carrie Matthews. In March of 1950, she married the love of her life, Robert Weber Greaser. Together, they shared a long and happy marriage for 43 years. They had two daughters Suzane Elizabeth and Carolyn Nancy Greaser. Marvin Sue was woman of accomplishments. She was deeply devoted to her family, her church – Chapelwood United Methodist and her community. She was always a good and caring friend and is survived by her two best friends; Alice Kilgore and Virginia Schneider.
Her contributions and dedication to making the world a better place:
• President of Friends of the Library for Hedwig Village
• Founder of the Plant and Book Sales that continues today in support of new books for the library
• Member of the Planning and Zoning Committee that resulted in hike and bike trails throughout Hedwig Village
• President of the Parks and Beautification Committee and member of the Garden Club – this resulted in the creation of Hedwig Village Park where she planted many of the crepe myrtle trees throughout Hedwig Village.
She was a member of the Sesquicentennial Committee in 1986 where a monument stands today in Hedwig Village Park that includes her name and that of her husband’s along with the other founders of the park.
To honor her lifelong contributions, a proclamation was issued by the Mayor of Hedwig Village to declare December 9th as Marvin Sue Greaser Day!
She is survived by her two daughters, Suzane Zummo and son-in-law Ronnie Zummo and Carolyne Greaser Hencey. Her legacy includes her two grandsons, John Robert Zummo and Robert Davis Hencey.
Notwithstanding this memorial would be remiss if honor was not given to her devoted caretakers: Carolyne, grandson Robert, Velma Roberson, Debbie Boyd and Leo Talens along with Tish, Sandra and Samantha. Suzane extended phone calls of love and support and visits from Beaumont with John Robert.
Her wish for each of you is to love your family and friends with all your heart and always strive to make our world a better place.
