

Marvin Price was born on August 23, 1944, in Indiana. After Marv was graduated from Knox High School in 1962, he studied business at Ball State University where he met Susan Walker. He joined the United States Air Force in 1966. Marv and Susan married on March 18, 1967; they had 4 children, Shane Michael, Todd William, Lara Marie, and Ryan Matthew Price.
Marv served 11 years in active duty and 16 years in active reserve as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer and as an Aircraft Logistics Officer in the United States Air Force. Maintaining the aircraft including the SR-71, F-100, C-47, KC-135, C-130, C-131, F-4E, T-33, T-38, B-52, and the B-57, his technical expertise, courage, determination, and problem-solving skills contributed to the safety and success of United States Air Force pilots, ensuring each aircraft was safe and “flight ready.”
His 11 years of active military duty is as follows:
• 9th OMS (Organizational Maintenance Squadron), Administrative Officer, 2Lt, worked with the SR-71, Beale AFB, CA
• Aircraft Maintenance Officer School, 2Lt, 1Lt, Chanute AFB, IL
• 614th TFS/35th TF Wing, worked with the F-100, Phan Rang, Viet Nam
• Worked with the B-57, the F4E, Transient Alert, MacDill AFB, FL
• Instructor, Aircraft Maintenance Officer School, Captain, Chanute AFB, IL
• Team Leader, Tehran, Iran, set up maintenance school, Capt.
• Field Training Detachment, FTD, Commander, Capt., Ellsworth AFB, SD
• Aircraft Maintenance Officer, O/C, 14th OMS, worked with the T-38, Columbus AFB, MS
• 3 month TDY in 1974 to the Pentagon, Washington D.C. during the fuel shortage and oil embargo crisis • 3rd TFW, 3rd OMS and 3 FMS (Field Maintenance Squadron) Supervisor, worked on the F-4E, Clark Air Base, Philippines
He served for 16 years as an IMA (Individual Mobilization Augmentee) Reservist at Tinker AFB, OK as a Major and Lieutenant Colonel as a Contract Logistics Officer. His projects included:
• 747 conversion to Air Force One
• Procurement of the C-17
• Controlled movement of Ground Launched Cruise missiles in Europe for return to the United States for scheduled maintenance and/or modifications
• Maintenance of aircraft on loan to foreign governments
Marv then worked for several years for various companies within the automotive industry. After retiring, Marv enjoyed spending time with family, attending Houston Astros games, and serving in his local church and community.
A 23-year survivor of colon cancer and kidney cancer, Marv was an active member of the Cancer Care Ministry at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen, TX, for many years. Marv was passionate about sharing the love of the Lord with others. He attended monthly Cancer Care meetings, encouraging and supporting other cancer patients and their families. He was a member of the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program, which drives patients to their regular weekly chemotherapy and oncology appointments. He was also a member of Warriors of Faith, a Christian Men’s Bible study for military veterans.
Marv was an active and proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Allen Post, encouraging other veterans, serving in community children’s events, and honorably retiring American flags. He counseled young men and women who were considering entering the military and advised prior military servicemen and women to become involved with the Reserves to attain military retirement.
Marv was a loyal and proud Mason. He was a 31-year Master Mason with the Battle River Masonic Lodge in Hermosa, South Dakota.
Marv had a great smile and enjoyed talking with others, easily making friends at church and with people he met throughout the course of his day. He was mechanically minded, having a wonderful knack for putting things together, repairing broken items, and creating new ways for an item to work better and last longer.
Marv loved his grandchildren, attending their musicals, talent shows, plays, tournaments, choir concerts, band and orchestra concerts, and many high school football games in the searing Texas sun or chilly October wind.
Marv joins his twin sons Shane Michael and Todd William Price in heaven. He is survived by his wife Susan Walker Price, sister Karen and brother-in-law Jim Mann, brother Fred and sister-in-law Diane Price, daughter Lara Price and son-in-law Jason Schmauch, son Ryan and daughter-in law Molly Price, grandson Matthew Michael Price and granddaughter Hallie Claire Price, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As Marv had a heart for those who serve, anyone desiring may make a memorial contribution to Tunnel To Towers Foundation.
A funeral service for Marvin will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
