Mary found enjoyment in many hobbies including gardening, bowling and painting. She enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Houston Texans, Rockets and Astros. Above all she loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her friends and family will remember her as a very special person, very caring, giving and loving to everyone she met.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Akins; her parents, Wallace and Hazel Mills; and her sister, Doris Jelks. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Kohut and husband, Alouis; sons, Tommy Akins, Jr. and wife, Cindy; Thad Akins and his wife, Jamie; grandchildren, Michael Smith, Matthew Smith, Miriam Davis, Juniper Akins, Thad Darby, Jr. and Matthew Lertique; great-grandchildren, Kira, Hayden, Haley, Holden and Kennedy Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
