Mary Ann Sergent

She taught us all how to laugh and love.

Mary Ann was born and raised in Santa Monica, California on February 28, 1942 to Bruno and Josephine Donatoni (Festa). While in middle school, she met Brent Sergent and began their 61-year love story.

In 1972, Brent and Mary Ann moved to Houston with their two children, Kim and Chris. Their home was always filled with music and laughter. The two traveled extensively throughout their lives and particularly grew to love Orcas Island and the Big Bend area of Texas. Mary Ann had a silly and creative personality. She loved puns, tending beautiful gardens, and going on road trips or collecting bugs with her grandchildren. She made hilarious homemade birthday cards and gorgeous, personalized quilts for her family.

Brent passed away on July 17, 2022. They shared a deep and beautiful love and Mary Ann passed peacefully on Brent’s birthday shortly after hearing their love song. Although we grieve, it is impossible to see this timing as anything other than divine - and for that we can smile comfortably knowing they are together again. We know she was greeted in Heaven with the Lord’s proudest of embraces before sending her on her way to the little garden Brent prepared especially for her.

The perfect ending to a beautiful love story. His earthly birthday - Her Heavenly birthday. Forever together.

Mary Ann is survived by her brother, John Donatoni and his wife, Rivon, her daughter, Kimberly Mauldin and husband Scott of Carrollton, Texas; her son Christopher Sergent and wife Kanda of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Brent Sergent, Kate Mauldin, Joseph Mauldin, and Vince Sergent; and great grandchildren, Ellison Lopez and Holden Sergent.

The family invites you to celebrate Mary Ann’s life at a visitation to be held on Monday, March 18th, from 5-8 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
