Mary Jo Cobb, 92, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 5, 2019. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mary was born on October 9, 1926 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Ellen Fay (McSwegan) Puckett and Andrew Buren Puckett.

Following graduation from Ardmore High School, Mary obtained an Associate’s degree from Ardmore Business College. Subsequently moving to Texas, Mary lived in Austin and San Antonio before settling in Houston, where she met her husband Grover and reared their only child, Lisa.

Mary was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. Mary was vivacious, adorable, funny, and loved by all. She enjoyed interior decorating, gardening, and most of all, entertaining friends during her annual Kentucky Derby parties as well as lavish dinner parties. Believing laughter was the best medicine, Mary enjoyed sharing jokes with all who knew her. Mary’s strong faith and spirituality served her well during her lifetime.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Nancy Welch, and her husband Grover. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Cobb; daughter-in-law Bridget Robinson; nephews Mark Welch and Todd Welch; brother-in-law James Welch; and second cousin Jan Roseman and husband.

In lieu of flowers, Mary asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Visitation and funeral services will be on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the George H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home, 1010 Bering Dr., Houston, Texas. Burial will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
