

Mary “Mickey” Moore Fourmy passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, Texas, on Thursday, the 6th of September 2012. Mickey was born in Dallas, Texas, on the 30th of November 1925, and grew up in Dallas and San Antonio. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, attended Southern Methodist University, and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and was the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi in 1947. Most importantly, she was the sweetheart of a particular Sigma Chi, James C. Fourmy, whom she met at the university and married on the 23rd of June 1951.
Mickey and Jimmy spent their early married years in San Antonio and moved with their children to Houston in 1962. Mickey was a secondary science teacher for more than a decade in both San Antonio and Houston and held a National Science Foundation fellowship, designed to encourage and enhance science education, in 1961-1962 at the University of Texas. Mickey was also an accomplished bridge player and an avid sports fan.
Mickey was predeceased by her parents, Louvena Martin Chapman and Mitchell C. Moore, and by her loving husband of more than 50 years. She is survived by her daughter, Emily Cutrer and husband Thomas of San Diego, California; and by her son, James C. Fourmy, Jr. and wife Holly of Fort Smith, Arkansas; as well as her grandchildren, Katherine Cutrer of New Orleans, Louisiana, William Cutrer of Santa Monica, California, Emily Fourmy of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Katherine Fourmy of Washington, D.C. The family would like to thank her loyal friend, Bobbie Anthony, for her years of love and support. In addition, the family desires to express their thanks to her caregivers, Judy Cordero, Mary Giering, Orelia Brazile, Goldie Creeks, and Hazel Anthony for their loving attention.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, the 8th of September, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 4900 Jackwood Street in Houston, where the Rev. Christopher A Bowhay, Rector, is to officiate.
