Houston, she was born Dec. 6,
1926 in New York, NY to John and
Sarah Egan. Mary was raised in
Hartford, CT, graduating from high
school and nursing school there
prior to attending Georgetown
University in Washington, D.C.
After recovering from polio, she
joined two college friends on a trip
to California with a temporary stop
in Houston. She met her husband,
Bill, at a party and never left
Houston. An R.N., Mary spent 50
yrs working at Houston-area hospitals
– St. Lukeʼs, MD Anderson and
She is predeceased by her husband
of 47 yrs, Bill; her parents
and her siblings. She is survived
by five children, Mary Hardin
Francis & husband, Glenn; Steve
Hardin & wife, Edna; John Hardin
& wife, Ann; Anne Woods & husband
Don; Beth Nelson & husband,
Larry; 13 grandchildren; 4
sisters-in-law, Florence Maslak,
Anne Hall, Theresa Hardin and
Mary Egan; as well as numerous
nieces and nephews. Mary took
great joy in her family, dearly loving
her children, their spouses, and
especially, each of her grandchildren.
She was thankful to be
blessed with so many wonderful
friends.
Visitation will be Fri., July 15, 5-
8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7
p.m., Earthmanʼs Funeral Home,
8303 Katy Fwy. Funeral Mass will
be Sat. July 16, 2 pm. at St. Cecilia
Catholic Church, 11720 Joan Of
