Mary Lou Taylor Lichtenhahn

Mary Lou Taylor Lichtenhahn, 80, of Houston, Texas passed away on December 21, 2012 at the Memorial Herman Memorial City Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 1, 1932 to the late Robert Sam and Nettie Mae Taylor in Whitewright, Texas. Mary graduated from Ector High School, Ector, Texas. She married Louis “Louie” F. Lichtenhahn on July 24, 1960 and they moved to Brownfield, Texas where Louie was employed with Amoco Oil Company (British Petroleum).

Mary and Louie raised their three children in Brownfield and Mary was very active in the Calvary Baptist Church. She was also active in the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies, an international service-oriented organization whose members strived to live peaceably, do good unto all, and especially obey the Golden Rule. Mary was also an avid artist. She won many ribbons, including Best of Show on several occasions, throughout the years.

Upon Louie’s retirement in 1994, he and Mary moved to Bonham, Texas to be near her family. In Bonham, Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a volunteer for many years. She also volunteered at the Ector Food Pantry and the Bonham Food Pantry. She was very active in the Nunnelee Community Club.

In October, 2011, Mary and Louie moved to Copperfield Estates Independent Living Facility in Houston, Texas. She viewed the move as another adventure in life.

Mary had a passionate devotion to her family, loved spending time with her grandchildren, and doing kind things for her family and friends. She never met a stranger and could find humor in any situation. She was one of a kind and will be missed by her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bobby; four sisters, Gladys Burchfield, Helen Campbell, Edna Earl Hagler, and Onetia Jester; four brothers, Raymond, Robert, Joe, and D.C.

She is survived by her husband, Louie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Grace and Dayton Kennemer, Houston, Texas; Karon Elaine and Tim Paty, Farmersville, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and June Taylor, Bonham, Texas; sister-in-law, Oleta Taylor, Mesquite, Texas; three grandchildren, Cindy McDade, Randy Paty, Logan Paty; and three great grandchildren, Finn McDade, Allison Paty, and Will Paty; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 2:00 pm at Nevada Cemetery, FM Highway 6, Nevada, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elective Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, Bonham, Texas, the Basic Food Pantry, Bonham, Texas, or the Nunnelee Community Club, Bonham, Texas.
