

Mary Alice attended primary and secondary schools in Wellsville, Ohio. She was valedictorian of her high school graduating class as well as a national merit scholar. At Ohio State University she received a bachelor’s degree Summa Cum Laude with majors in Business and Art History and began her working career as assistant to the Dean of the Business School. After moving to Houston in 1978, she helped establish the Houston Forum Club and later served in various management positions at the University of Houston: Staff Director of the Center for Public Policy and Director of Special Projects for the President of the University of Houston. She later founded a print management business which she operated for ten years.
Mary Alice is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Mayor, her two stepsons, Christopher Stanley Mayor and James Hamilton Mayor of Houston, as well as by her brother, Patrick Doyle, of Dallas, Texas.
A memorial service is to be conducted at half-past two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 21st of December, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the Rev. F. Stuart Shelby, Associate Rector of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, is to officiate.
Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Grand Foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in memory of Mary Alice may be directed to an appropriate charity.
