Mary was born on August 16, 1928, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to R.T. Bell and Willie Mae Caldwell. After the passing of her biological mother during infancy, she was raised by her Uncle Tank and Aunt Jane Caldwell, who nurtured her with love and care.
She accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. Mary was a devoted member of New Hope Bible Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Washington.
She was united in marriage to Henry Phillips, Sr. and they were blessed with six children: Carstello, Barbara, Sheila, Henry Jr., Darryl, and Tracey.
Mary leaves behind a profound legacy of unwavering faith, remarkable strength, love, kindness, and forgiveness. She was a selfless and caring woman who consistently placed the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending cherished time with her family. Mary ended every conversation with a gentle reminder: “I love you, and don’t forget to pray.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Phillips, Sr.; her eldest son, Carstello; her twin sisters, Irene and Corene; her granddaughter, Telina; and her great-granddaughter, Kevona.
She is survived by her five children, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, spanning five generations. Her legacy of faith and love will continue through each generation.
With heartfelt gratitude, we extend our sincere thanks to those who became like family during this difficult time. May God bless you always.
A special and enduring appreciation is extended to her grandson, Madison, whose unwavering support and devotion were pivotal in her care.
