

Mary Ruth Gott Reese, age 94, died the 13th of July 2015. She was born the 28th of December 1920 to Stella Palmer Gott and James William Gott and was the granddaughter of Mary Victorine and Thaddeus Llewellyn Palmer and Gerrar and Harriet Gott.
She was a Registered Nurse and served in WWII as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nursing Corp. from 1941-1943 during which she married her husband U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Charles Woodrow “Woody” Reese in 1942. She had 5 children – Charles Woodrow “Chuck” Reese, Jr.; James Richard “Dick” Reese; John William “Bill” Reese; Mary Ann (Reese) Richie; and Robert Edward Reese.
After being a mother for 39 years, she returned to Nursing in 1980 and received a Chemical Abuse Counselor Certification at the University of Houston. She served as the Assistant Director of Nursing at Houston International Hospital from 1980-83 and Spring Shadows Glen from 1983-1992.
After her retirement in 1992, she devoted her time to Genealogy and became a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution, and United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Woody Reese; her youngest son, Robert Reese; sister, Edith Gott White; and brothers E.B. Gott, Bevil Gott, Clyde Gott, and Harley Gott. She is survived by her children Chuck Reese, Dick and Teena Reese, Bill and June Reese, Ann and Arnold Richie, Amber Reese; 12 beloved grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren – as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is to be conducted at noon on Saturday, the 1st of August, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, Houston, TX 77057. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
