Mary was born on July 17th, 1942. The oldest of 11 children were born to Milton Leo Lewis and Arthenia Palmer in Harold, Texas. After high school, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she met and eventually married Clarence L. Steele Jr., who preceded her in death. They had 1 son, Laurae C. Steele. She also had grandchildren, Shalona, Laurae Jr., and Keelan, as well as a daughter-in-law, Tralena. She leaves behind 4 sisters, Minnie, Willie Jend, Marion, and Mildred, and 2 brothers, Abdul and Joe. Four siblings preceded her in death: Milton Jr., Lee Edward, Billy, and Mertha. She will be missed and remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
