

Born on the 15th of March 1914 to Thomas and Olva Ridley Pennington, she was a graduate of San Jacinto High School, and attended Rice University before meeting and marrying Mortimer Henry Stewart on the 17th of November 1936. Together they raised two children: son, Lawrence and daughter, Olva.
Mary Kent was a charter member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Altar Guild and Saintly Stitchers. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Dames of the Magna Carta, and the American Museum Society, as well as a past President of Tanglewood Garden Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband, and her son, Lawrence LeTulle Stewart, and is survived by her daughter, Olva Stewart Pharo and her husband William; and two grandchildren, Alexander William Pharo and Samantha Sue Stewart.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from three until five o’clock this afternoon, Sunday, the 3rd of April, in the Drawing Room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 4th of April, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Jr., Rector, and The Rev. Katherine F. Picot, Curate, are to officiate.
Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held at an off-site venue announced during the service.
At a later date, the family will gather for a private graveside service and inurnment at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston.
