She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and J.C. Russell, her first husband Robert H. Thweatt, and a second husband William Frey. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Westminster Methodist Church, the Blue Bird Circle, DAR, and a patron of the Junior League. Mary Jo attended Mississippi State College for Women at Columbus, Mississippi.
She is survived by her sister Ruth Russell of San Francisco, California, her son Robert J. Thweatt, daughter Gini MacShane, and daughter Jo Ann Thweatt of Houston, Texas Also survived by her grandchildren, Laura Skyes, Katie Ehler, Paul MacShane and Tom Doll; and great grandchildren Ethan and Ellie Sykes and Ian MacShane.
She enjoyed her many friends, art, volunteering and bridge. The family asks that memorials be sent to the Blue Bird Circle. There will be a private graveside service.
