Mason Huey Wilson

Mason Huey Wilson, the second of five siblings born to Harvey D. Wilson, Sr. and Rosa Lee Wilson was born February 17, 1936 in Huntsville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harvey Dante Wilson, Jr. Mason attended public schools in Huntsville, Texas and later attended Wiley College to study music.

Mason moved to Houston, Texas in the mid-1950’s. In 1959, he married Glennie Lee Benoit. They shared 53 wonderful years together. To this union, three beautiful daughters were born. Frances Lynell, Bridgette Ann and Donna Leje.

After holding various jobs in Houston, Mason began a 30 year career with General Electric. After retiring from GE, he began a second career with HISD. His last employer was MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he enjoyed working as a landscaper.

The Wilson Family joined Trinity United Methodist Church and remained faithful members. Mason worked on various church activities, especially the Usher Board.

Mason was an avid landscaper who was known for his meticulous maintenance of his lawn. As a result, he won Yard of the Month in his neighborhood. Mason will forever be remembered for his love of jazz music, discussing life events, and working in his garden.

He leaves to treasure his memory, wife Glennie, three daughters, Frances Lynell Wilson Mayes, Bridgette Ann Hadnot, Donna Leje Williams; three sons-in-law, Michael Mayes, John Hadnot and Jerome Williams, four grandchildren, William Lee Richard, Mason Robert Mayes, Kennedy Elise Williams and Bryce Alexander Williams, one brother, Robert Earl Wilson, two sisters, Jessie Turner, Brenda Staten, one sister-in-law, Frances Wilson, one brother-in-law, Robert Staten and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be sorely missed, but he is at peace with the Lord.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012, at 10:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2600 Holman Street, Houston, Texas 77004, with interment to follow at Paradise South Cemetery, 1601 Cullen Blvd., Pearland, Texas 77581.
