Stephen Edattukunnel
With gratitude to God and thankful hearts, we honor and celebrate the life of Stephen Edattukunnel - a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant of the Church, and a man whose strength and humility touched all who knew him. His life was defined by faith, dedication to family, and a lifelong commitment to service.
Born in Uzhavoor, Kerala, Stephen began his professional career with Central Railway in Bombay, where he worked 17 years as a Stores Supervisor. In 1975, he immigrated to the United States and worked with Sullivan County Wholesalers in New York before moving to Houston, Texas, in 1977. There, he dedicated more than 30 years of service to Gulf & Basco Company in the accounting department until his retirement.
Faith was the foundation of Stephen’s life. He was deeply involved in his church communities and faithfully served wherever needed. He was a Pastoral Council member at Corpus Christi Church and later became an active member of the Indian Catholics of Houston and Knanaya Church communities. Over the years, he served as Liturgy Coordinator, Treasurer, Parish Council Member, and Secretary, offering his time and talents with humility at St. Mary’s Knanaya Forane Catholic Church.
Stephen was the devoted husband of Mariamma (Palakunnel family) and the loving son of the late Mathew and Mariam Edattukunnel.
He was a beloved father to Meenu & Reggie (Malathu–Kallissery), Raju & Anila (Vaduthala–Koodallur), and Reggie & Gina (Vadakkedam–Neendoor), and a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Kimberly (Evan Benson), Michael, Angelina, Aaron, Alana, Naomi, Elsa, and Reece, whose lives were enriched by his love and guidance.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Annamma Karanattu, Thomas Edattukunnel, Mathai Edattukunnel, Luka Edattukunnel Mariamma Mathew Mavelil, and John Edattukunnel.
Our dad/appacha/aliyan/appappan/chettan will be remembered for his steadfast faith, gentle nature, and unwavering dedication to his family and church. We remember him not with sorrow alone, but with gratitude for a life well lived and for the many lives he enriched through kindness, service, and love.
